6-Therapy Sessions Covered by the Ray of Hope Foundation

Colorado Cancer Patients, Caregivers, & Family Members

Cancer isn’t just something you have.
It’s something that rearranges everything.

The moment you hear the words—diagnosis, treatment, prognosis—your body might go still, but your mind doesn’t. The swirl of appointments, medications, people asking how you are… when sometimes, you don’t even know yourself.

You just know everything has changed.

Your Emotions Matter. Let’s Talk About What It’s Really Like for You

Here’s what many people don’t talk about: the way cancer gets under your skin in ways sometimes others can’t see. The identity shifts. The grief. The fury. The loneliness that can sneak in even when you’re surrounded by love.

You might be expected to be brave, positive, strong, & hopeful. But what if you’re just tired & feeling lost?

That’s where therapy can help. I offer free counseling sessions for cancer patients, thanks to a partnership with the Ray of Hope Cancer Foundation. These sessions are available for Colorado residents and can include EMDR, Accelerated Resolution Therapy, talk therapy, and support before your chemotherapy sessions.

You don’t need to have it all together. You might just need a place to rest, feel, and breathe.

What You Might Be Carrying:

  • The pressure to "be okay" when your energy is gone

  • Friends who’ve disappeared—or who mean well, but don’t get it

  • Fear before procedures, scans, infusions

  • Changes to your body that feel like an invasion

  • Longing for independence, while learning to receive care

  • Shifting family dynamics—roles changing, needing more help than you’re used to

  • Big questions about identity, purpose, faith, life, & death.

What Therapy Can Offer You:

  • A space to exhale before the next treatment and game plan what kind of support feels good to you right now.

  • Gentle tools to manage anxiety and overwhelm

  • A somatic approach to help your body feel safe while undergoing intense treatments

  • Someone who doesn’t need you to “stay strong”

  • A place just to be with what’s real for you

EMDR Therapy Can Help Ease Medical Anxiety

You may know you have to go to chemo.
But that doesn’t stop your body from flinching, tightening, or panicking as the day approaches knowing how it impacts you after.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a trauma-informed therapy that helps your brain and body process stressful memories. It's especially useful when you're stuck in a cycle of dread or fear about procedures. Together, we gently work with those moments—before, during, or after treatment—so they no longer hijack your body.

Many clients notice they feel:

  • Less anxious leading up to treatment

  • More grounded in the chemo chair

  • Clearer and calmer afterward

  • Able to rest and recover more fully
